Kati Haycock event, Monday April 28 7pm Seattle Central Library. Kati Haycock presented a wealth of data to support the need for high academic standards for all our students. She is a passionate, inspiring speaker who should be heard.
Primary sponsor is the League of Education Voters Foundation.
Co-sponsors include the Seattle Council PTSA and Washington State PTA.

Washington State PTA Convention, May 2-4 (SeaTac). Register for Convention and come hear the session on Basic Education Funding - what parents need to know. Also join Seattle Council PTSA board members for a reception on Saturday May 3 from 5:30-7pm at the Double Tree hotel.

Gives an overview of how Education Funding currently works in Washington State and why it needs to be changed. Produced by WA State PTA members and approved by the WA State PTA.

Washington State Board of Education. Next meeting in Bellingham on May 14. Key initiatives are: Mathematics Standards, Science Standards, System Performance Accountability, Meaningful High School Diploma.

Basic Education Finance Task Force: The 2007 Legislature created this group to "develop options for a new funding structure and all the necessary formulas, and propose a new definition of basic education." The Task Force will complete its work by December 1, 2008. To follow their work read George Scarola's blog on the League of Education Voters website.
